The Gov has declared October 6-12 as Infant Safe Sleep Week in MN.
To promote safe sleep, the I-35W St. Anthony Falls Bridge in Minneapolis will be illuminated in blue, light blue and pink on October 11 and 12. Be sure to encourage all to practice the ABCs of Safe Sleep:
- A = ALONE:
- Infants should always sleep or nap alone.
- B = BACK:
- Infants should always sleep or nap on their backs.
- C = CRIB:
- Infants should always sleep or nap in their own safety-approved crib or play yard.
- (without blankets or pillows)
Cradle of Hope is expected to distribute 2,500 portable cribs by December 31, 2019.
We have already distributed 1,899 cribs but we need your help.
If you would like to donate so we can ensure that every baby in MN has a safe place to sleep, please click HERE (any amount will help).
3,700 babies die each year due to SUID (Sudden Unexpected Infant Death) which consists of Accidental Strangulation and Suffocation in bed and SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome – the unexplained sleep related death of a baby under 1 year). Each year, 50 babies die from SUID in Minnesota.
